The women we support face a range of issues and challenges including mental health problems, substance misuse, a history of domestic and sexual violence, trafficking, experience of detention and human rights violations overseas. They are particularly vulnerable during their pregnancies due to the effects of poor health, poverty, lack of support from family and friends as well as isolation.
Our overall aim is to empower women and help them to give their babies best possible start in life.
We also seek to raise awareness and to influence changes in policy and practice to improve conditions for the women we work with.

Create
We know unleashing creativity ignites imaginations, develops confidence and builds relationships. Like setting off a firework, our professional artists light the touch paper and our participants discover new found self-belief and a desire to try more, do more and be more.
We’re a national charity that champions local priorities by collaborating with our partners to tailor every project to each individual’s needs.
We know that music can help ease the anguish of a parent with a terminally ill child, that drama can build an isolated young carer’s self-esteem and that storytelling can strengthen the bond between a young offender and the loved ones waiting for them at home.
One spark of creative energy opens up a world of positive opportunities. Create lights that spark.

Forgiveness Project, The
It does this by:
1. Developing empathy by helping offenders understand the impact of their actions on others.
2. Opening offenders’ minds to an alternative way of viewing themselves and the world.
3. Practically supporting ex-offenders in their move away from crime and desire to make reparation.
4. Assisting victim recovery through witnessing and acknowledgement.

Hibiscus Initiatives
Our work falls into four broad areas: prisons, community, international resettlement, and human trafficking.
Our person-centred approach engages the clients, supporting and empowering them in dealing with their multiple and often complex needs and, importantly, addresses the disadvantage that language and cultural barriers present.
Imagine If Theatre Company
imagine if has a strong track record of working in prisons nationally and with prison leavers in the community, with the main geographical focus being across Yorkshire. Over the last five years, imagine if has worked in 26 prisons across the UK and USA, engaged with over 4,000 prisoners and continue to support prisoners when they are released into the community, for as long as individuals require support.
imagine if has demonstrated that theatre is a powerful tool that can be used to reach out and connect with people from all parts of society. The company creates thought provoking theatre about real and challenging societal issues, focusing predominantly on the causes and consequences of social and economic disadvantage. These challenging issues are addressed through accessible theatre performances, educational narratives, drama workshops and specialised interventions.
imagine if’s work aims to actively improve disadvantaged people’s lives through theatre, engaging with prisoners, people with convictions, recovering addicts, abuse victims and homeless young adults across the UK.
The company’s main focus now is to work with people with convictions in the Yorkshire community recently released from prison, with a focus on prison leavers from HMP Moorland and HMP Lindholme.
