The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound and severe impact on arts organisations and practitioners working in the criminal justice system.
The impact of the pandemic has been felt profoundly by people in the criminal justice system – many of whom have faced even tighter restrictions for a more prolonged time than in wider society. The vital services provided by voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system have therefore never been more needed.
Without support in the community, stricter curfews and increased tagging are likely to cause more people breaching the terms of their licence and returning to a prison system that is underfunded and overcrowded. This feedback highlights how the voluntary sector has struggled with the quality of information received from the government during the pandemic and recommends that HMPPS share information it issues to its own staff, at the same time and in the same format https://clinks.org/publication/rr3-feedback-hmpps-its-management-covid-19
In our work to influence criminal justice policy, what should we prioritise? Tell us which policy areas have the most impact on your organisation’s work and the people you support.
