Build confidence to navigate the CJS, work safely in prisons, and understand why gender matters.
Clinks offers three main training modules, these are held online 3 times per year for individuals to join along with others from the sector. Clinks are able to deliver bespoke training to the sector either online or in person to meet your needs. To discuss organising bespoke training for your organisation contact support@clinks.org
Introduction to Navigating the Criminal Justice System Training
The criminal justice system as a whole can be quite daunting to understand because of both its size and complexity.
This three- hour workshop aims to increase awareness of and provide opportunity for voluntary sector staff and volunteers to explore and discuss how the criminal justice system is organised, the complexities within it, and how it works. The workshop provides details of the national, regional and local structures as well as trying to explain the jargon used.
The next Introduction to Navigating the Criminal Justice System Training will be held on [16 October, 09:30 – 12:30]. Book your place here
Working or Volunteering in Prisons Training
Working or volunteering in a prison can be quite daunting due to the many complexities associated with its unique environment and establishing the role of the voluntary sector within that can be challenging.
This three-hour training session for voluntary sector staff and volunteers aims to raise awareness of the prison environment and provide information on key aspects such as staffing structures and departments, prison procedures and current challenges associated with working in prisons. It is aimed at those who are new to working or volunteering in a prison.
The training will explore ways in which voluntary sector staff can have meaningful and professional engagement with prisons operationally, as well as ensuring safety and responsible ways of working are understood and prioritised.
The next Working or Volunteering in Prisons Training will be held on [22 October, 10:00 – 13:00]. Book your place here
Why Gender Matters Training
This two part entry level workshop is aimed at frontline staff or volunteers who are new to working or volunteering in your organisation and want to increase their understanding of why gender matters for women in the criminal justice system. It aims to develop an understanding of women’s gendered experience of the criminal justice system and raise awareness of ‘a whole system approach’.
Please note: this is not a skills-based course but develops knowledge. Topics covered: policy context; whole system approach; prevention and diversion; community supervision; custody; and resettlement.
It will be delivered online across two sessions on two consecutive days (Part One over 2 hours, Part Two over 3 hours) and uses a range of learning methods, some interactive.
There is no date currently set for the next training session but there will be one organised before the end of the year.
