Digital Media and Events Coordinator
We're looking for a Digital Media & Events Coordinator to be the guardian of how SHiFT looks, sounds and gathers.
You'll own four things that sit at the heart of our national team:
Our brand – branding and designing everything SHiFT puts out, mainly in Canva:
materials for national and international conferences, training presentations, reports, and
child-friendly content that puts children's and young people's voices at the centre.
Our events – crafting and delivering gatherings that bring people together around
children and families, from Practice launches to national conferences, workshops and
events for awareness weeks.
Our internal communications – leading SHiFT's internal newsletter, email blasts and
our developing intranet, keeping colleagues across our Practices connected, informed
and proud of what we do together.
Our social media – running SHiFT's channels day to day, marking awareness weeks
and key moments, and telling the stories of our work with energy, care and creativity.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
A Canva whizz with a meticulous eye for design and branding, and a portfolio showing
how you've brought a brand to life – conference materials, presentations, reports or
campaigns.
Demonstrable experience planning and delivering events, from small internal sessions to
larger external conferences or launches, including logistics, budgets and on-the-day
delivery.
Experience producing internal communications, ideally including writing and designing a
newsletter.
Demonstrable experience running organisational social media channels, creating content
that performs, and using analytics to improve it. Experience creating high-impact content
across a range of formats, especially video and digital content.
EVENTS
Creatively plan and deliver SHiFT events end to end: concept and running order,
venues, invitations and registration, materials, on-the-day delivery and follow-up.
Lead on internal events, such as all-team gatherings, forums and learning sessions,
often working closely with a Practice Development Lead and Practice.
Support the crafting and delivery of external events, including launches of new SHiFT
Practices, national and international conferences, workshops and parliamentary events.
Plan SHiFT's calendar of awareness weeks and days, and deliver the events, activities
and content that mark them.

How to apply for the job
Please send a CV and supporting statement to info@shiftuk.org by 23:59 Sunday 25 October.
Interviews are expected to take place on the 5 and 6 of November. The short supporting
statement (up to two pages or around 1,000 words) should tell us why you're interested in the
role and how your skills and experience relate to it.
We recognise that people communicate their experience in different ways. Instead of a written
statement, you're welcome to apply by submitting one of the following:
a video (up to 5 minutes)
an audio recording (up to 5 minutes)
a visual portfolio with commentary
You don't need to have worked in communications or events at a charity before. We're
interested in transferable experience from design, marketing, events, social media, content
creation, journalism, campaigning, community organising, youth work, public services or
lived experience.
If you have examples of your work - such as designs, social media content, newsletters,
presentations, event materials, videos or creative projects - we'd love to see them, but this is
optional and won't disadvantage applicants who don't have a portfolio.
We want our recruitment process to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. If there are
adjustments that would help you participate fully - for example, receiving questions in
advance, additional time for tasks, or an alternative interview format - we're happy to discuss
these with you.
