Volunteer Mentor
Change for Good is a resettlement charity providing support to prison leavers in four prisons across London. Our mission is to enable those leaving prison to change their lives through our values of transformation, empowerment, commitment, innovation and collaboration. We do this in 4 ways: pre-release support, our through the gate programme, mentoring in the community and our peer support group, Next Chapter.
We are looking for new volunteer mentors to develop a one-to-one relationship with a local mentee in their return to the community. Volunteers provide signposting, practical assistance and ongoing support with the rehabilitation pathways, recognised key areas in reducing reoffending. This may be achieved through a focus on housing, education, employment or addiction issues, depending on individual circumstances. Over the course of 6 months, mentors empower and enable their mentees to create personal change and develop self-confidence and resilience. By volunteering with Change for Good, you can provide prison leavers the opportunity to transform their lives, reduce reoffending and reintegrate into their community.
We ask our volunteer mentors to commit to meeting with their mentee once a fortnight. They receive regular training and supervision from Change for Good’s Volunteer Coordinator and are invited to our volunteer peer support workshops and community socials. We welcome individuals, aged at least 24, with empathy and heart for people with experience of the criminal justice system and strong personal boundaries to apply. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian or minoritised individuals and those who have lived experience of the criminal justice system.
