Bio - Description
Kelly Baker is the National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance Lead at Clinks. She coordinates the development of the NCJAA network and works with members, partners and stakeholders across the arts and criminal justice sectors. Her role focuses on strengthening collaboration, growing the network and supporting improvements in policy and practice so that more people in prison, on probation and in the community can access meaningful creative opportunities. Kelly believes that the arts play an essential role in supporting people connect with others and explore different perspectives and possibilities.
Before joining Clinks, Kelly managed adult reading programmes at The Reading Agency, with a particular focus on supporting members of the prison community. Her work included project managing a large-scale book distribution campaign that will deliver 500,000 Quick Reads books across UK prisons in 2026. Alongside this, she has undertaken freelance projects with organisations including the BFI, BAFTA and a range of publishers. Kelly is also completing a doctorate in education, exploring prisoners’ experiences of agency and participation in relation to prison library engagement.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending time outdoors on woodland walks and wishes it were autumn all year long. She has a lifelong, borderline obsessive love of poetry and film and a keen interest in folklore, traditional storytelling and gothic horror in all its forms, from literature and cinema to television and theatre.
