CLINKS OPPORTUNITY: funding for arts organisations
The Arts Alliance are looking for artists and/or arts organisation to deliver workshops as part of a new prison writing project ‘Write to be Heard’. The aim of the project is to encourage hard-to-reach offenders to engage with education and arts opportunities in prison, to introduce new and innovative organisations to prisons and to investigate how to further develop a support network to help them improve their services. £25,000 is available for an organisation or consortium to deliver 25 creative writing workshops (preferably in prisons that are not already well served by arts activities). This project needs to start as soon as possible and the workshops all need to be completed by September. The deadline for applications is midday on 24th April. Find out more and apply here.
CLINKS EVENT: exploring female offenders journeys through the CJS

FUNDING: to challenge stigma and discrimination
Want to run a project to challenge stigma and discrimination in your community and beyond? The Time to Change grants fund could support you to do this. They fund projects that bring people with and without mental health problems together and create opportunities for them to have meaningful conversations. Projects must be led by people with experience of mental health problems. This means that people with first-hand experience take a lead at all levels and stages, from designing the project, to managing and evaluating the project. Round 3 of the grants fund is now open and the deadline for submitting applications is 2pm on Tuesday 30th April 2013. Find out more here

The deadline for applications is 31st July 2013. Find out more here

PUBLICATION: why do some boys become domestic abuse perpetrators?
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, 'Boys to men: Phase one key findings' explores why some boys become domestic abuse perpetrators when others do not. The research found that boys were more likely than girls to think it was ok for a man/woman to hit his/her partner. 34% of young people reported witnessing abuse involving an adult who looks after them. Young people had been victims, witnesses and perpetrators of violent or controlling behaviours. Those who experienced abusive behaviour, either as a victim or witness reported a reluctance to report such experiences to an adult or figure of authority. Download the full findings here
