Supporting information
The South Derbyshire CAB received funding from Langkelly Chase in 2011 to deliver advice and support to prisoners residing at HMP Foston Hall. We provided advice and support, in addition to recruiting and training identified prisoners to become mentors. The mentors provided a triage service so immediate action could be taken with regards to straight forward or urgent problems that a prisoner might be experiencing.
Due to the success of this project HMP Foston Hall have provided funding to ensure that it is continued for a further 12 months. The project was seen as a vital resource for prisoners to have access to so that upon release they have a stable environment to move into, which reduces the risk of re-offending.
This has now lead to Spurgeons providing funding to the Bureau to provide practical help to their team of volunteers who provide prisoners of all 13 womens prisons in the UK, help to successfully re-enter society through rehabiliation, which will reduce re-offending.
