Join ClinksThe African Cultural Association is a community learning organisation and registered charity that has been supporting unemployed vulnerable and disadvantaged people since its inception in 1995.
We seek to promote awareness of different cultures in multicultural Britain and bring different communities closer to each other. We offer both training and advice services, with the latter covering areas such as housing, immigration, health, employment, legal services, education, racial harassment and debt management.
Our training is centred on the skills needed for garment construction/manufacture (Fashion, Dressmaking, Pattern cutting & Craft for beginners, Intermediate and Advance, to improve their garment construction skills to enable them to set up their own business in Dressmaking and Fashion). Our training is currently delivered from our premises in Hendon, NW4 4JX, but our resources are portable, allowing us the ability to deliver from community venues anywhere in London.

Supporting information
Our training has been largely unfunded, with only those who can afford to contribute a fee being asked to do so, in a manner not dissimilar to the Community Learning ethos. However, we are now seeking partners to support the continued delivery of the programme including its expansion within and beyond our premises.
We aim to:
1. Increase our capacity to deliver from our current premises. We currently run a morning and evening session, twice per week. With appropriate funding this can be expanded to 4 sessions per day, 5 days per week.
2. Offer our programme beyond our immediate community. Our model is highly portable and stimulates interest across many different cultures. We are very open to considering any other London borough, as well as servicing other areas within our current borough (Barnet).
3. Use any income surplus to fund our journey towards accredited delivery.
4. Further build our resources and expertise to enable us to deliver accredited dressmaking courses.
