Join ClinksDetention Action supports people held under immigration powers in some London prisons and in Harmondsworth and Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centres, near Heathrow Airport. We are completely independent from the government and from the detention centres. We can help with advice like where to find legal advice, support with health problems or making complaints. We can also give advice on rights in detention. We have a pool of volunteers to offer emotional and practical support over the phone and sometimes through visits.
Detention Action campaigns for an end to immigration detention without time limit and to the practice of detaining people because they have claimed asylum. We lobby government, produce research and organise events to raise awareness about the injustice that people in detention are facing. We challenge stereotypes and ensure that people in immigration detention centres are not invisible and unheard.
