MEMBER FOCUS: Glasshouse Theatre CIC
Glasshouse leverages theatre for social change within the criminal justice system. By uniting diverse communities, they use the power of creativity to conduct impactful workshops, produce thought provoking theatre and foster dialogue to reshape perceptions of prison and those affected.
Their vision is to create trauma-informed dialogue about systemic injustice, driving social change through theatre. Glasshouse encourages active participation in criminal justice reform by holistically engaging all impacted individuals, spanning education, the prison system and the private sector. By challenging individual and societal mindsets, attitudes and misconceptions.
As an organisation they centre the voices of those with direct lived experience of prison, either through incarceration or frontline work. Founded by ex-Prison Officers, Glasshouse champions the stories often ignored and suppressed, from within the prison walls. Find out more about Glasshouse Theatre CIC
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: Charity Awards 2024
Congratulations to Storybook Dads and Land Works for coming first in each of their categories.
Devon-based rehabilitation and resettlement charity, LandWorks, won two awards at the 2024 Charity Awards - winner in the "Social Care, Advice and Support" category and also winning the "Overall Award for Excellence". The awards were announced at an event in London on Tuesday night.
Chris Parsons, LandWorks Project Director said: "We were surprised enough to win our category, but to then go on to win the overall award is just amazing. This is great recognition for our team, volunteers and supporters but perhaps more than anything it is recognition of all the men and women who have been on placement at LandWorks and worked so hard to turn their lives around.
"I hope that we have shown that there is a different way of doing things in the criminal justice system that works and that is in everyone's interest. With the right support, people can transform their lives and reoffending can be avoided. We hope we can take our message to MPs and Ministers in the new parliament."
Storybook Dads received an award for strengthening ties between imprisoned parents and their children. It is amazing to see our members being recognised for the incredible work they do.

RESOURCE: MPs and their experience in the charity sector
The 2024 General Election brought 335 new MPs into the House of Commons. For the many charities that seek to influence parliamentarians, this creates a significant challenge. That is 335 new MPs to research and sift through to try and understand if they might be inclined to support a charity’s cause. Pro Bono Economics (PBE) undertake research into the charity sector, including its relationship with policymakers, and have looked up the backgrounds of all 650 elected MPs. They have made all that information freely and openly available online for charities, broken down by parts of the sector. See the research here
