Clinks events and training
July 2024
Clinks runs events and training for voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system. We hear time and time again that organisations feel stronger alongside others and enjoy being part of a well-connected network.
If you have any ideas of events and training that would benefit you / your organisation, please do contact us at events@clinks.org.
Come along to one of our upcoming events to stay connected, learn something new and work together for a better criminal justice system.
All Wales criminal justice forum
10:00, 9 July | online | free
Our All Wales criminal justice forums bring together partners working across Wales in the criminal justice system. The forums provide an opportunity for people working in the criminal justice system to find out about latest government policy developments impacting organisations working in Wales.
These events also provide the space to network with other organisations, discuss opportunities for joint working and offer each other peer support. They are also an opportunity for Clinks’ members and partners to showcase their work.
The All Wales criminal justice forum is open to all organisations working in the criminal justice system in Wales. Book your place here
Clinks’ Families Network Forum: Key asks of the new Government
13:30, 11 July | online | free
Clinks has recently established a network for voluntary organisations that support families delivering services in prisons and the community. We aim to give a collective voice to organisations that support the families of people in the criminal justice system and help to strengthen the evidence base for investing in good quality family support.
Family relationships are often the main source of emotional, practical and financial support for people in the criminal justice system, from the time of arrest to after release. Evidence shows that strong family relationships play a key role in reducing the possibility of reoffending.
This event will provide organisations the opportunity to come together to identify key challenges for families organisations and develop a number of key asks for the new Government. Book your place here
Working and volunteering in prisons training
10:00, 22 July | online | from £95
Are you new to working or volunteering in prisons? Do you have volunteers or staff members who want to increase their understanding of the prison system?
Working or volunteering in a prison can be quite daunting due to the many complexities associated with its unique environment and establishing the role of the voluntary sector within that can be challenging.
Join us at this three-hour training session for voluntary sector staff and volunteers in which we aim to raise awareness of the prison environment and provide information on key aspects such as staffing structures and departments, prison procedures and current challenges associated with working in prisons.
We will explore ways in which voluntary sector staff can have meaningful and professional engagement with prisons operationally, as well as ensuring safety and responsible ways of working are understood and prioritised. Book your place here
