Key4Life empowers vulnerable young offenders, minimises barriers and creates opportunities to ensure successful rehabilitation and integration into society upon release. Key4Life's aims are to reduce youth re-offending rates and not only address symptoms but rather the root causes of re-offending. Find out more about Key4Life
NATIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE ARTS ALLIANCE NEWS: Anne Peaker 2024: Inspiring Futures
The National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance is excited to invite you to our annual Anne Peaker Lecture [26 March, 16:00-18:00, online, free]. At this year’s event we will be publicly sharing the full findings of the Inspiring Futures research project for the very first time. Keynote speaker, Dr Caroline Lanskey, will take the audience through the report and a select panel of key stakeholders will share their thoughts on, and hopes for, the future of the findings. The event will also include performances and an audience Q&A.
Anne Peaker was a pioneer of arts for, and by, people in the criminal justice system. Our annual lecture honours her work and legacy, which forms the basis of the work we do today. Visit our event Linktree for more information on the event and on the Inspiring Futures project. Book your tickets here
CLINKS EVENT: Clinks & MOPAC Roundtable - Improving Employability
The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) has just released the agenda for their upcoming Reducing Reoffending Board (RRB) meeting [26 February, 12:30-13:30, online, free] and improving employability during Release on Temporary License (ROTL) and when on probation in London is the main topic under discussion.
Anyone working in this area of the criminal justice system are invited to join an online roundtable discussion to share insights on: (1) How partnerships between voluntary organisations and both London Prisons and London Probation can be strengthened; (2) What opportunities there are for voluntary organisations to work with more people on probation into work, and how your organisation can be better supported to do this; and (3) How ROTL can be used more effectively within London to support more people into employment.
Registration is not required - just enter the online meeting using the following Microsoft Teams link and credentials: Click here to join the meeting / Meeting ID: 378 805 432 284 / Passcode: PvfAxd
CLINKS EVENT: Families network forum
Clinks has recently established a network for voluntary organisations that support families delivering services in prisons and the community. We aim to give a collective voice to organisations that support the families of people in the criminal justice system and help to strengthen the evidence base for investing in good quality family support.
This event [18 March, 13:30, online, free] will examine who takes responsibility for children maintaining relationships when a parent is involved in the criminal justice system. His Majesty Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) currently funds some family and significant other contracts. Still, resources are not adequate to maintain relationships when a parent is involved in the criminal justice system. This event aims to discuss which other statutory services should be involved and develop an action plan for influencing their work. Book your place here
CLINKS EVENT: London criminal justice forum
This forum [21 March, 13:00, online, free] aims to bring together partners working across the criminal justice system. These forums occur three times per year to provide opportunities for people working in the criminal justice system in London to discuss policies and practices affecting their day-to-day work.
The forums also provide the space to network with other organisations, discuss opportunities for joint working and offer each other peer support. It is also an opportunity for Clinks' members and partners to showcase their work. Book your place here
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: Glimmers of hope in prisons after a “tumultuous” year
The "Bromley Briefings Prison Factfile: February 2024" is the flagship publication by the Prison Reform Trust. It brings together the latest facts about prisons and the people in them.
Prisons have had a “tumultuous” year but there are encouraging signs that the political costs of our addiction to imprisonment may have finally hit home with ministers, a new briefing from the Prison Reform Trust suggests.
“The Government should seize this opportunity to show that the status quo is not working and present a positive alternative vision for our criminal justice system,” says the charity’s chief executive Pia Sinha writing in the introduction to the latest edition of the Bromley Briefing Prison Factfile.
