CLINKS NEWS: Anne Fox, Clinks CEO, responds to prison capacity reduction plans
On the afternoon of 16 October 2023, the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, the Rt Hon Alex Chalk KC MP, made a statement to the House of Commons announcing a range of measures to reduce the pressure on prison places.
In this blog, Anne encourages the government to involve voluntary sector organisations, the people they support and those with lived expertise, in developing the specifics of the necessary legislation.
Further measures, which would be welcomed by the sector, have been presented and we know more can be done. Read the blog here
CLINKS NEWS: Expressions of interest are now closed
Clinks have now closed expressions of interest for participation in two out of three of our current Special Interest Groups (SIGs) - Accommodation, and Employment - as part of our wider work through the Reducing Reoffending Third Sector Advisory Group (RR3). Please note, EOIs are still open for the Commissioning SIG. We are extremely grateful for the huge amount of interest from the voluntary sector, but to ensure that these sessions are as effective and valuable as possible, we will no longer be accepting applications. The RR3 is a completely transparent forum, so all outputs from the SIG meetings will be shared more widely. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly if you would like to have individual conversations with regards to the work of the SIGs.

CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: the Tudor Trust is evolving
In mid-2020, trustees began the work of reshaping the organisation and working towards embodying the Tudor Trust’s commitments to anti racism. Recognising that we live in a society that is shaped by racism and intersectional inequity, and in addition that the Trust’s roots as a family trust resulted in an almost entirely white and privileged trustee board that is no longer fit for purpose.
Perhaps the most powerful lesson learned is that it is time to hand on the baton to a group of trustees with the learned and lived experience to take Tudor forward. A new recruitment process is the first stage of that undertaking, and you may wish to suggest these opportunities with people in your network or clients you work with. Find out more
