CLINKS NEWS: annual conference 2023
Bookings are now open for our annual conference 2023: Making race & justice everyone's business [22 November, London, from £50].
This year our annual conference will provide a platform for our specialist members who are led by/for racially minoritised people. Our programme will allow members to share their expertise on how to best support people from racially minoritised communities, and how we can unite and commit to a future where justice is equitable. Join us to participate in a variety of sessions which will aim to inspire and influence change on an individual, organisational and wider strategic level.
Further details of the speakers and facilitators will be announced closer to the date of the conference.
Our early bird tickets are now on sale. Find out more and book your place here
CLINKS NEWS: Clinks Impact Stakeholder Survey 2023 – Last chance to take part!
This is your last chance to take part in our stakeholder survey as part of Clinks’ upcoming Impact Assessment. The short survey has been designed and managed by independent consultants, will be anonymous and should take no more than 10 minutes of your time. The deadline is [1 October]. The results will form an important part of our next phase and will help us to improve our services. We are committed to involving our beneficiaries and partners in understanding our impact and the best way forward.
As we emerge from a turbulent last few years, we are in the process of developing our new three-year strategy. This will define what we do, how we do it, and who we do it for in the coming years. As part of this process we are currently undergoing an independent impact assessment. Your experiences as partners or supporters are vital as we reflect on what we do well, what we need to improve and how we can make a bigger impact. Complete the survey by 1 October here
CLINKS NEWS: In-person All Wales criminal justice forum
Do not miss our first in-person Wales forum since February 2020 [3 October, 10:30 – 15:30, Cardiff, free] where we look forward to seeing our partners working across Wales in the criminal justice system.
This forum will provide an opportunity for people working in the criminal justice system to find out about latest government policy developments impacting organisations working in Wales. The event will also provide opportunities to network with other organisations, discuss opportunities for joint working and offer each other peer support. We will also be showcasing some of the work of members from across Wales. Book your place here
MEMBER FOCUS: 2 Makeit
2makeit helps enable rehabilitation by providing opportunities for creative expression through music and the arts. Their programmes aim to increase confidence, self-esteem and ability to work with others via a creative environment. The work continues in the community: just ‘being there’ for a conversation when needed, mentoring and continuing creative activities. Prison projects include choirs, drum workshops, art and poetry. The pandemic was the spur for innovative development, changing their delivery in prisons, adapting the support work in the community. Find out more about 2 Makeit
FUNDING: for innovative housing solutions
Commonweal Housing is offering up to £10,000 per application for not-for-profit organisations keen to test new and innovative housing-based solutions to address injustices within the criminal justice system. All organisations have to do is draw up an outline idea of how a housing model could play a part in the lives of people affected by the criminal justice system - you have the freedom to explore what this means.
The deadline has been extended to [6 October] to ensure organisations have enough time to finalise their applications - but this means you can still submit, so get in touch with apply@commonweal.org.uk to find out more or click here.
FUNDING: supporting people on probation and people on the IOM scheme
South West Probation Service are looking to fund local organisations to deliver short term crisis interventions to people on probation and people on the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) scheme.
They are inviting organisations to respond to one or more scenarios they have developed, in the hope that together they can pilot targeted support to people when and where they need it most. If your organisation would be interested in applying for a one-off sum of £1000 to support up to 4 individuals over the period of 12 months, apply here by [26 October]. To download the form, click the three dots in the right-hand corner and choose - export > Word doc.
South West Probation Community and Partnerships Team and the South West Integrated Offender Management Team are offering a Q & A session [6 October, 10:00, online, free] for any organisations that would like to apply. Please contact Amanda.Sherriff1@justice.org.uk if you would like to attend this event
CLINKS MEMBER’S TRAINING: understanding current welfare benefits
This short course from Society Matters CIC [5 October, online, £69.00 plus VAT] provides newcomers to welfare benefits with an overview of 16 welfare benefits that are currently being claimed in the UK.
