CLINKS NEWS: influence the design of future prisons
In this short survey, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) Estates Team is inviting the voluntary sector to share their views on the future design of prisons and share what facilities and spaces organisations require in prison. Clinks encourages you to share your thoughts via our short survey. All personal and company details will be kept anonymous, and the collective feedback will influence the scope and design of prison spaces and facilities and spaces moving forwards. Share you views using this Microsoft Form here before 30 June.
CLINKS NEWS: member advisory forum update
The Clinks member advisory forum met in April where members discussed the UK Government proposal for new branding requirements for grants funding and how they may be perceived by the voluntary sector. Also considered were the ongoing challenges caused by the continued delay to HMPPS commissioning and grant funding.
The Members Advisory Forum will be convening in smaller sub-groups to make progress in two priority areas, namely: capacity building for small and specialist organisations; and the voluntary sector workforce. If you would like to find out more about this work or are interested in getting involved, please contact our Sector Support, Members and Networks Manager, Emma Kidger, who will be chairing these meetings moving forward. The full minutes are available here
MEMBER FOCUS: Standing Together
Standing Together seeks to bring local services together to keep people safe. Most public services weren't designed with domestic abuse in mind, and they often struggle to keep people safe. Poor communication and gaps between services put survivors at risk. Standing Together aim to end domestic abuse by changing the way that local areas respond to it. This is achieved through a pioneering approach called the Coordinated Community Response (CCR). Visit www.standingtogether.org.uk
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: Race, migration, criminalisation, and mental health
In celebration of the resilience of refugees as part of Refugee Week [20-25 June], Clinks member Hibiscus will launch their latest report, titled “Race, Migration, Criminalisation, and Mental Health” on Thursday, 22 June. Funded by Clinks, the report explores the complex issues faced by Black, minoritised and migrant women in contact with the criminal justice system, including violence, financial insecurity, inadequate housing, and barriers to accessing healthcare – all of which have detrimental effects on their mental health." Look out for the report next week.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: Insights22 frontline pass
In response to feedback from Insights22, and to improve equality of access to Festival tickets for operational staff who do not have regular access to IT, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) is delighted to introduce the Frontline Pass.
The Frontline Pass is available to all staff who work in an operational setting (for example prison, probation, court, approved premises, unpaid work, or community projects) who deliver, or support, frontline services and interventions. This includes managers and administration staff who are based at operational sites.
The Frontline Pass provides staff with early bird access to Festival tickets two weeks ahead of general release to wider criminal justice staff. You will receive a membership code which will enable you to access the early bird tickets on the Insights website from 3 July. To register for your Frontline Pass, go to the Insights website

CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: HMPPS commissioning of core services survey
HMPPS is starting work on the re-commissioning of its core services (formerly known as day 1 services). It is anticipated that there will be different tender dates for each of the categories within the core services. HMPPS is exploring different commissioning models and testing to see what would be best. Your views could help to inform their strategy and organisations are encouraged to answer some or all of the survey [before 19 July]. At this stage, HMPPS will largely be focusing on men’s services.
To maximise accessibility, HMPPS is offering 1-2-1 virtual meetings should a discussion be preferred. Please e-mail mohammedirfan.ahmed@justice.gov.uk or probationsourcingteam@justice.gov.uk to arrange a meeting.
