Clinks events and training
March 2023
Clinks runs events and training for voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system. We hear time and time again that organisations feel stronger alongside others and enjoy being a part of a well-connected network. Come along to one of our upcoming events to stay connected, learn something new and work together for a better criminal justice system.
All England criminal justice forum
10:30, 7 March | online | free
Our England criminal justice forums aim to bring together partners working across the criminal justice system. These forums provide an opportunity for people to hear about current and future developments and discuss policy and practice affecting their day-to-day work.
Often themed around a current issue, the forums also provide the space to share good practice, network with other organisations, discuss the opportunities and challenges your organisation is currently facing and encourage shared learning and peer support. They are also an opportunity for Clinks’ members and partners to showcase their work.
Forums are open to all organisations in England working in the criminal justice system. Book your place here.
Creative Inclusion: where education, health and justice merge
9:30, 9 March | online | free
Neurodivergent people in the criminal justice system have a variety of needs, across health, social care and education.
The aim of this event is to bring together voluntary sector organisations which work with neurodivergent people - with commissioners, referrers, providers and others; with the aim of learning, sharing good practice and making connections. We will have speakers bringing perspectives on education and health and justice, with time for questions and discussion. Book your place here.
Navigating the criminal justice system workshop
10:00, 10 March | online | from £50
Are you new to working or volunteering in the criminal justice system? Do you have volunteers or staff members who want to increase their understanding of the criminal justice system?
Join us at this three-hour workshop for voluntary sector staff and volunteers in which we aim to increase awareness of how the criminal justice system is organised, the complexities within it, and how it works. The workshop provides the opportunity to explore and discuss the multifaceted nature of the criminal justice system to help you better navigate it in your work.
The workshop will explore the different elements of, and the various structures within, the criminal justice system, including government departments, regional and local statutory agencies, and the role of the voluntary sector, the services they provide and its work in supporting people. Book your place here.
Stronger Voice: Communications coffee morning
10:00, 14 March | online | free
Clinks is marking the end of the Stronger Voice project with a communications coffee morning.
Join us for an informal communications session to talk all things organisational messaging. We recognise it can feel like massive challenge to help bring consistency of voice to your organisation. That may mean introducing a messaging document, clarifying terms and language you do or don’t use, honing your tone of voice or integrating existing messaging. We want to take some time to help you to overcome those challenges.
Our coffee morning will include tips on tackling a messaging project, offer insights from a small organisation that has just completed a collaborative messaging process and, most importantly, provide space for you to discuss your own challenges and queries with the speakers and other attendees. Book your place here.
North of England criminal justice forum
14:00, 14 March | online | free
This criminal justice forum has been organised to bring together partners working across the criminal justice system in the North of England. The forum will provide an opportunity for people to hear about current and future developments and discuss policy and practice affecting their day-to-day work.
It will create a space to step away from the day job and provide an opportunity to share good practice, strengthen partnership working, and discuss any opportunities or challenges your organisation may be currently facing.
The forum is open to organisations based or working in the North West, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire and Humber and the North East. Book your place here.

Women’s network forum
10:00, 28 March | online | free
Our quarterly women’s networking forums, hosted in partnership with Agenda, provide support, information and networking opportunities to those working with women in contact with the criminal justice system. They also provide updates on policy, member activity and host speakers on relevant topics. The forums provide an opportunity to gather feedback and key issues raised by organisations working with women in contact with the criminal justice system, enabling Clinks to reflect these to national government at Reducing Reoffending Third Sector Advisory Group (RR3) meetings.
We will also get a policy update from Clinks and Agenda, and there will be an opportunity for members to feedback on issues the women they work with are facing. Come along to the women’s network forum to learn more about creating change for women. Book your place here.

Our annual State of the sector research enables us to understand what organisations are experiencing and how developments in the criminal justice landscape and wider external environment are impacting them and their service users.
