CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: mental health support tool and intervention
To help break the cycle of poor mental health, Recoop are leading the THREADS project, an accessible, strengths-based support tool. Recoop have developed and piloted the intervention in the community and in prisons using peer supporter facilitators to help those with mental health support needs. Threads participant: “This course has been helpful in identifying the parts of my life that require more work and focus.” Read more about THREADS here.
FUNDING: grant funding competitions for women’s services
Deadline for applications to the Ministry of Justice’s core costs grant funding competition for women’s community sector organisations has been extended to [10:00am, 1 November] because of problems in the original allocation of the funding to probation regions. If you wish to apply or wish to amend your application in light of the amended allocations, please log into the Ministry of Justice sourcing portal and search for ITT_6494. The separate funding competition for new/additional services to support women in the community remains open for applications until [10.00am, 15 November]. If you wish to apply you should log in to the portal and search for ITT_6495. If you are not registered on the grants portal, find out more on the Clinks website here
CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: thematic workshop on police and gambling harms
GamCare's Criminal Justice and Gambling Harm Programme are running their 4th Thematic Workshop on Police and Gambling Harms, look specifically at the topic, "What should good practise within Police settings look like to better support those affected by gambling harms?" [23 November, 10.00 - 12.00, online, free]. They are inviting criminal justice professionals, academics, people with lived experience, and gambling support agencies to listen to a range of guest speakers and engage in group discussion topics and a Q&A session. The Lucy Faithfull Foundation’s 'Behind the eyes of the viewer of sexual images of children' webinar [24 November, online, £40 + VAT per person] focuses on understanding how and why people start viewing sexual images of children. It explores the psychological connections between watching legal adult pornography and sexual images of children, the experience of the non-offending partner, and how trauma can be reduced for this population. Join Why me? for Restorative Justice Unpacked [29 November, online, £50 or students £5] where speakers will talk about Restorative Justice, clear up misconceptions, and generate a discussion about how it can transform the criminal justice system for the better. A Why me? Ambassador will speak about their experience of using restorative justice to heal the harm caused by a serious crime, and how they benefited. CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: Fine Cell Work Christmas sale
Fine Cell Work are holding a Christmas sale in [2 December, 9am - 3pm, St Peter's Church Notting Hill, London]. A selection of beautifully hand-crafted products by their stitchers in prisons across England are on offer. The social enterprise trains prisoners and ex-prisoners in high-quality needlework skills, which are used to stitch products that they get paid for when sold. For 25 years people in prison have been paid for their professional work that they can carry out from within their prison cells. Show your support with a little Christmas shopping. CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: trauma informed training and network
One Small Thing have a double billing. Join them to learn how to develop trauma informed policies [6 December, 10am - 12.30pm, New Life Conference Centre, Sleaford, Free]. Participants will look at their existing policies, consider what might be amended from a trauma-informed perspective, and work together on the development of new trauma-informed policies. Radio TechCon is aimed at those who love all things technology, broadcast engineering, radio or audio.
