CLINKS NEWS: Arts in criminal justice network forum: Introduction to the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS)
The next National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance (NCJAA) network forum takes place on [29 September] and is open to those thinking about delivering arts provisions and projects in prisons but have no, or limited, knowledge of the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). Whether you are interested in delivering art-based work in prisons and are unsure how to secure funding; or are already aware of the DPS but need more information to get you started, we look forward to you joining us. Register to attend here
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: neurodiversity services in Wales tender opportunity
The Ministry of Justice invites you to join their market engagement event [23 September 1pm-3pm, online, free] around neurodiversity services in Wales. Procurement will be via the Probation Services Dynamic Framework, you must be registered and confirmed to be able to submit your tender. In order to submit a tender response for this competition, you must be qualified specifically to deliver in Wales, with contract values between £100k to £1m within the service category DF.07 - Emotional and Personal Wellbeing. The tender will likely proceed within the next month. If you have any questions, contact joey.stanford@justice.gov.uk or register using this form to obtain the joining link.
CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: reading together for better mental health
The Reader is hosting a “reading with care” event at Gravity festival [30 September 1pm-2pm, online, free]. This event has been created specifically for colleagues in the NHS, public health services and caring roles, so they can share stories about the benefits great books can have for our wellbeing. They would love it if you could join. The event is online and scheduled for lunchtime in the hopes this makes it a bit more accessible. Get your tickets here
CLINKS MEMBER’S TRAINING: signposting for people who feel wrongly convicted
The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) would like to offer charities and organisations that support people who go through the criminal justice system (CJS), free online training [No set date, online, free], so that they know when to signpost the CCRC's free service to anyone who feels they have been wrongly convicted of a crime or wrongly sentenced. The CCRC are the official body set up to investigate miscarriages of justice. It is the only organisation with the power to send a case back to the appeal court, and has sent just under 800 cases to the appeal court in its 25 year history. Please get in touch if you would like free online training on the role of the CCRC and where they sit within the CJS. They can also, in some cases, provide free face to face training. E-mail johnsonl@ccrc.gov.uk
NON-MEMBER’S EVENT: The Perrie Lectures
This year’s annual Perrie Lectures, “Culture at a crossroads?” will take place on [20 September, Prison Service Training College, Newbold Revel, Rugby, registration 9:15, first lecture 10am, £35]. For some years the prison service has been working on its culture – a positive culture for staff, and a rehabilitative culture for those in prison, this day of lectures is a chance to ask how this quest is progressing, in the face of the challenges that are all around. The voluntary sector discount code (thirdsector) will allow tickets to be bought for £35.00 (buy 1 get one free), so tickets would work out at £17.50 each. After booking to bring a guest free, email perrielectures2022@gmail.com with your name and email along with your guest’s name and email. You can book on eventbrite

This training has been designed for professionals working with women who are in, or at risk of entering the criminal justice system (CJS) in Wales, who do not already have access to specific gender-informed training. It aims to increase participants’ understanding of applying gender-responsive and trauma-informed approaches to working with women who are in or at risk of entering the CJS; develop confidence in using trauma-informed skills within practice, be able to engage in reflective practice, and know how to monitor and boost your own resilience.
