As part of our ‘A matter of fact: what the evidence tells us’ series, Professor Neal Hazel will discuss the latest evidence on what effective resettlement support looks like for children after custody.
Neal Hazel is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Salford and, in 2018, was appointed to the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales, leading its development of Child First as the guiding principle for the youth justice system. Neal has a particular expertise in the resettlement of children from custody to the community and is a leading expert in this area; responsible for developing and evaluating much of what is now recommended best resettlement practice.
He has summarised the evidence base for what effective resettlement support looks like, and policy and practice guidance for how to implement it, in a review for our Evidence Library. Book your place here

Service user involvement
2pm, 23 September | online | free
The voluntary sector has a long history of pioneering service user involvement in the criminal justice system, and it is rightly becoming increasingly common to have experts by experience at the helm of developing and delivering services, influencing change, and challenging systemic inequality.
These service user involvement events aim to equip you to make meaningful service user involvement a reality at your organisation. There will be the opportunity to meet other organisations committed to involving service users, discussing the challenges you face, and how to take the next steps in embedding service user involvement into your work.
Our commitment to delivering these events stems from our view as an organisation that the Ministry of Justice, commissioners, and all service providers should involve people with lived experience to inform policy and practice.
This event is open to Clinks’ members only. Book your place here
