CLINKS NEWS: Making Every Adult Matter, the MEAM Approach
The MEAM Approach is currently being used by cross-sector partnerships in 32 local areas in England, which together form the MEAM Approach network. The network supports these local areas by bringing them together to share learning with peers and provides a consistent focus on systems change. The National Lottery Community Fund has recently awarded MEAM a grant to extend their support to the MEAM Approach network over the next two years and to help shape a nationwide legacy for work on improving support for people facing multiple disadvantage. MEAM are looking for 10 new areas to join the network. This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated network of areas, dedicated to tackling multiple disadvantage. Closing Date is 27 June. CLINKS BLOG: HMPPS exit the COVID19 National Framework - What the voluntary sector needs to know
Jess Mullen, Clinks Director of Influence and Communication summarises the key developments the sector needs to know about how prisons are being managed following HMPPS lifting the COVID19 National Framework and the key areas of concern that Clinks have, which we are continuing to raise on behalf of the sector. CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: Catch22 podcast on restorative justice
In the latest Catch22Minutes episode, the team discusses restorative justice with Detective Superintendent Chris Baker from Leicestershire Police, and Charlotte Calkin, Director of the Restorative Engagement Forum. Restorative justice gives victims the opportunity to be heard and the perpetrator a chance to repair some of the harm done. Research also suggests it results in at least a 14% reduction in the frequency of reoffending, and a 85% victim satisfaction rate. Listen to the Catch22Minutes podcast here

FUNDING: strengthening provision for victims of domestic and sexual violence in Northumbria
There are two new funding opportunities made available by Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, Kim McGuinness. They aim to strengthen the provision for victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence. For the community fund, the commissioner is keen to receive applications from organisations that can help improve lives for survivors in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear. This can be for both adults and children and they encourage you to apply if you think you can fill any current gaps in provision. Fund 1: Community domestic abuse and sexual violence 2022 -2025. CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: will harsher sanctions reduce assaults on police and NHS workers?
Join Transform Justice and a panel of speakers [23 June, 10:00-11.15, online, free] for the online launch of new research which questions whether a more punitive response is effective in reducing abuse towards emergency workers. The research highlights the unintended consequence of harsher sanctions: sweeping more people with mental health conditions, cognitive impairments and/or who are neurodiverse into the criminal justice system. The event will discuss whether harm from assaults can be better addressed through support for employees, diversion, restorative justice, and better training to prevent incidents from escalating in the first place.
