CLINKS VACANCY: Fundraising Officer
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Fundraising Team as our new Fundraising Officer [£28,371, Full time, home based] to support Clinks’ healthy income stream and ensure that our work is measured for impact. The Fundraising Officer provides support to the Business Manager to assist Clinks with our income generation, programme delivery and impact measurement functions. CLINKS NEWS: Warming Up the Homeless
Clinks welcomes a new member organisation, Warming Up the Homeless, who help people in Hastings, Eastbourne and Bexhill who do not have a home. They fill important gaps in local statutory agency and charity services. Their mission is the relief of poverty among the street homeless/rough sleepers and homeless through the provision of items to support basic needs such as sleeping bags, ground sheets, survival sheets, blankets, clothing, food and toiletries. They also aim to improve the individual’s welfare through emotional support, even if it’s just a smile or by signposting them to other services. Visit their website to learn more
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: Community Awards 2022
The Howard League for Penal Reform have opened nominations for their prestigious annual Community Awards. The awards celebrate the people and organisations whose innovative work helps to make communities safer. These awards recognise the country’s most successful community projects encouraging desistance from crime – projects which help keep people out of the criminal justice system by providing alternative, proportionate, effective, and targeted interventions. Nominations for the 2022 awards close on 26 July. Find out more here
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: the North East Nepacs Ruth Cranfield awards
Individuals and organisations who work with people in prison, prison leavers or people receiving community sentences in the North East are invited to enter the Nepacs Ruth Cranfield Awards 2022. Amanda Lacey, Chief Executive of Nepacs, said: “These last two years have presented enormous difficulties for everyone working in the criminal justice system, and we feel it’s even more important to show appreciation of the people who have worked unimaginably hard to deal with the changes Covid has brought to everyone’s work, and the ongoing exceptional circumstances we still find ourselves in”. CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: neurodiversity engagement event
The Ministry of Justice are exploring the possibility of procuring neurodiversity services via the Probation Services Dynamic Framework. The services will be procured in the following regions, [North West; North East; Yorkshire & The Humber; South West; West Midlands and South Central]. A market engagement event will be held [24 May, 10:30-12:00, online]. The event will outline some of the requirements and eligibility process; and will give organisations an opportunity to provide input. Follow this link to register for this event
FUNDING: evaluation of the innovative ‘Routes2Change’ project
Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact) would like to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and credible provider to carry out the evaluation of the Routes2Change project at HMP/YOI Isis [outline submissions by 27 May]. Routes2Change project began as a two year ‘proof of concept’ pilot in partnership with HMP Brixton and commenced on 1 January 2021; with the main aim of achieving and demonstrating how the recommendations of the Lord Farmer report can be achieved through promoting a “family first” culture in all aspects of the prison’s regime. FUNDING: stop loan sharks community fund
The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) have launched the latest round of their Stop Loan Sharks community fund with a share of £160,000 of funding up for grabs. Grants of up to £5,000 are being made available with collaborative bids between multiple agencies being considered. Projects must raise awareness of the dangers of loan sharks, help to reduce crime and disorder and have a positive impact on local communities. The funding comes from money recovered from convicted loan sharks under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). Closing date for applications is 30 June. Click here to learn more or apply

The Forgiveness Project invites you to a presentation and facilitated discussion [26 May, 11.30 - 13.00, online, free] exploring new research which offers a crucial insight into how the damage of unrecognised shame is impacting on both women and the wider prison estate and how we might better support women in custody. CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: impact of Covid-19 on people in prison
User Voice and their research partners from Queen's University Belfast will release ‘Coping with Covid’ the most comprehensive study yet of the impact of Covid-19 on people in prison during the pandemic. To accompany the report, User Voice will be hosting an online event [14 June, 13:30 – 15:00, online, free] where key themes and findings will be presented by members of the research team - including peer researchers - followed by a panel discussion with leaders and decision makers from across health and justice, including: Charlie Taylor (Chief Inspector of Prisons), Kate Davies (Director of Health and Justice, NHS England), Mark Johnson (Founder/CEO, User Voice), Shadd Maruna (Professor of Criminology, Queen’s University Belfast), Stephen O’Connell (Deputy Director Prison Recovery, HMPPS) and Vicky Robinson (Director, HMP Bronzefield). CLINKS MEMBER’S EVENT: maternal separation
Join One Small Thing charity for an event [16 June, Cambridge, free] to hear from expert speakers discussing the importance of a trauma-informed and gender-responsive approach when providing support to those we work with and our staff teams, with a particular focus on maternal separation. It will be an opportunity to share learning around supporting women who are separated from their children through imprisonment or other circumstances, how trauma-informed practice works on the ground, the importance of reflecting upon our own biases, and supporting staff in a trauma informed way. Speakers include: Lucy Baldwin, Senior Lecturer in Criminology, De Montfort University; Rubi Rodriguez Nieto, Community Services Manager, Birth Companions, as well as women with lived experience. FEATURED VACANCY: Prison Link Worker
Brighton Women’s Centre is looking for a Prison Link Worker [£24799 per annum, South East, Full-Time] to join the team as part of the new Creating Community Connections project. They are looking for experienced candidates who can provide trauma-informed, strengths-based, collaborative support, to empower women in prison to move forward in their goals and break cycles of trauma, disadvantage and abuse. The project aims to connect prisons and women in prisons with a network of Women’s Centres across the UK and improve access to support in the community for women leaving prison. Brighton Women’s Centre is looking for an Inspire Caseworker [£24799 per annum, South East, Full-Time]. The successful applicant will deliver targeted casework interventions for women in the criminal justice system, both on probation and in breach or at risk of breach. They will deliver bespoke, holistic, one-to-one support across multiple pathways of need, adopting a woman-centred, trauma-informed approach.
