CLINKS EVENT: connecting with and rewarding your team
Could you use some support connecting with and rewarding your team? This session will give details of the Reward Gateway for Small Business platform – which brings together employee discounts, recognition and wellbeing in one unified online hub [6 April, online, free]. As a charity, and a Clinks member, you can create your own platform through Reward Gateway for free. Find out more and book your place here
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: the role of families in the criminal justice system
Pact has welcomed a report from independent think tank The Centre for Social Justice The Golden Thread: Putting family at the heart of the criminal justice system. Following three years of research, the report finds that there is ‘highly inconsistent recognition of the importance of family’ across the system and calls for significant cultural change if Lord Farmer’s recommendations are to be realised. Pact CEO Andy Keen-Downs commented “Five years after Lord Farmer’s first ground-breaking report was welcomed by the government, this excellent new report from the Centre for Social Justice once again challenges us to follow the evidence, and scale up our ambitions to place family, and good relationships, at the heart of the criminal justice system.” Read more here
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: young prison leavers in their own words
Switchback has launched a podcast featuring young prison leavers called Time & Again. The podcast features six former Switchback Trainees who have been to prison and, with the right support, built a new life away from crime after release. Each episode includes a young man’s journey in his own honest words. Listen here
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: new trustees
Prisoners’ Education Trust (PET) has appointed three new trustees, including a former prison governor, a general further education college vice principal, and the founder of a challenge which has raised over £100,000 to support a range of charities. Find out more here
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: change of video call service
Over the next few months, most prisons will start using a new system called Prison Video for secure video calls. It is provided by Phonehub, a supplier that already provides the Prison Voicemail service. HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) has produced a user guide and a list of frequently asked questions which gives the information needed for families and loved ones to start using Prison Video. The changeover to Prison Video is not happening all at once, so exact dates for each prison will be communicated locally. Individual prison pages will be updated on Gov.UK. Families can be assured that any calls booked with Purple Visits that haven’t happened yet, will still go ahead. Read more here
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: probation services in Manchester
Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Greater Manchester Probation Service (GMPS) are pleased to announce an Expression of Interest to deliver services for people who are on probation. The ambition is to develop a ‘total system' of rehabilitative welfare services across Greater Manchester by working with voluntary sector organisations. GMCA and GMPS would like to work with services where they already exist and bolster those services to enhance the following provision: emotional regulation and decision making; wellbeing support and healthy choices; behaviour change; and family support and mediation. The initial development delivery period will be until 31 March 2023. Find out more via the Expression of Interest form here

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation’s training course ‘Working with families affected by sibling sexual abuse – a roadmap for safeguarding’ [29 June, London, £180 +VAT per person] has been developed for safeguarding professionals and those who work directly with children affected by sexual abuse and their families.
