Pregnancy and early motherhood in the criminal justice system
There's a window of opportunity - could you share your views?
Pregnancy and maternity can be an extremely challenging time for women who are in contact with the criminal justice system. It's crucial that these women - many of whom face multiple disadvantages - get the right support with their overall health and wellbeing during this time. This is even more urgent as the pandemic continues.
There is existing research about the health needs of women in prison, but what about women in the community?
Clinks and Birth Companions will advocate for the vital delivery of statutory and voluntary sector services at this important time in the lives of women and their children.
But to do this, we need your expert help to fill the gaps in our knowledge.
Please take our quick survey before the end of the year to help gather vital intelligence about their health needs.
We'll take these views and experiences to decision makers through our strong relationships with the government and our continuous local work with probation services and other partners.
