The development of residential women’s centres in England and Wales
5th August | online | free
This event will give an update from the Ministry of Justice about the development of residential women’s centres (RWCs) across England and Wales. It will also provide an opportunity for voluntary organisations working with women in the criminal justice system to give feedback and their views on specific aspects of how RWCs should operate.
The Female Offender Strategy includes a commitment to develop a RWC pilot in at least five sites across England and Wales. The Ministry of Justice announced in May 2020 that Wales had been chosen for the government’s first RWC, with RWCs in England to follow soon after.
The Ministry of Justice would like to speak to voluntary organisations in Wales and England that have experience delivering gender-responsive services to women and with expertise in trauma-informed practice to discuss the proposed model for RWCs and seek feedback.
