Key data on young people
Key Data on Young People 2019 is the only comprehensive data review focusing specifically on the health of 10-24 year olds in the UK. Supported by the Health Foundation, the Key Data on Young People series brings together robust and representative information to get a full impression of the health of young people in the United Kingdom. As data is frequently compartmentalised into topics such as youth justice, obesity, or mental health, drawing connections can be challenging. This resource acknowledges the need to view young people holistically. Download it here
Public health strategy
Public Health England (PHE) has launched its strategy for 2020-2025. The strategy highlights the ten areas where PHE believes it has the most value to add as an organisation, and where it will focus efforts over the coming five years. The Strategy also highlights PHE’s core functions – the bulk of its day-to-day work which it will continue to carry out, as well as the underpinning enablers which will be key to delivering its ambitions. Health and wellbeing resource packs
The VCSE Health & Wellbeing Alliance, together with Healthwatch and Versus Arthritis, has developed a set of Health and Wellbeing Resources packs – one for each local health and care system in England – to give access to locally specific information that can help organisations engage with and influence their local health system. The packs bring together a range of information and data to help build a shared understanding about the local population and the communities in which they live; the wider local context affecting health and wellbeing; and specific aspects related to the delivery of local health and care services. Download the resources pack for your area here
Implementing the care act
The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) Carers Policy Network has recently updated its Guide to Efficient and Effective Interventions for Implementing the Care Act. Health inequalities in older populations
Public Health England has published a blog to accompany the launch of its review of Health Inequalities in Older Populations in Rural and Coastal Areas. The research was carried out by Northumbria University and includes a number of case studies of local practice. It provides evidence on the nature of health inequalities experienced by older populations in coastal and rural areas, together with a summary of considerations in taking an asset-based approach to reducing inequalities and promoting healthy ageing in these areas. It is intended for local commissioning and strategic leads to inform service design, planning and delivery as well as the development of local infrastructure. Read the blog here
