This one day course aims to raise awareness of the prison environment and enable voluntary sector staff and volunteers to have meaningful and professional engagement with prisons, in their shared care of those in custody.

Learning styles:
This highly participative day covers a wide range of topics with experienced trainer input. It combines:
- Theory input, individual reflection and development planning
- Practical guidance on working in a prison and with prisoners
- Opportunities to work in coaching pairs to share peer experience
- Thought-provoking learning activities to dispel myths around the prison environment

How courts work; supporting those with a non-custodial sentence; volunteer management; security requirements of your specific prison.
