Triple A Project was born out of a question: “Are autistic people getting into trouble because of their autism?” It is clear that there is a 360 degree vulnerability within the autistic community, whereby individuals are susceptible to becoming unwitting perpetrators of criminal behaviour as well as becoming victims through naivety, which is exacerbated by a lack of understanding and misinterpretation.
-Offences related to social naivety
-Offences of a perceived aggressive nature, for example where sensory overload directly impacts on and increases levels of anxiety and stress that are difficult to self-manage.
-Offences relating to a misunderstanding and misinterpretation of social clues – lack of relevant sex education leading to inappropriate, unlawful sexual activity.
Triple A Project provides support for those on autistic spectrum as well as Understanding Autism training for practitioners and professionals.
