The Cascade Foundation

The Cascade Foundation runs an innovative project in Doncaster Prison - a new approach to help disengaged prisoners with learning difficulties. Using multi-sensory techniques, we re-engage them and teach them to read and write, then progress their literacy skills. We also deliver a unique programme of personal and social development. We enhance offenders' confidence and self esteem, teach many life-skills and train prisoners to be mentors and Learning Coaches to peer-mentor and support each other.

We will open our first Transition Centre in 2014 to accommodate, support, teach and train ex-offenders and those at risk of offending, helping them to find work and mentoring them in the community, linking with families.

Our CEO and founder has a strong track record. Her previous project in another prison decimated the re-offending rate and reduced that prison's assault rates to a fifth. Our goal is to greatly reduce re-offending rates in Doncaster and transform prisoners' lives.
