The Disabilities Trust is a leading national charity with over 30 years’ expertise in providing support & rehabilitation for people with severe complex needs.
The Foundation, a division within the Trust, supports the most socially marginalised in society by investing Trust expertise in groundbreaking research studies & piloting new services, to initiate good practice & direct policy.
The Foundation has conducted peer reviewed research into the prevalence of traumatic brain injury within the homeless & prison populations. We have developed a Social Exclusion Programme, employing two Specialist Brain Injury Linkworkers at HMP Leeds & St George’s Crypt homeless centre to deliver a smooth & sustainable 'through the gate' service. To compliment this provision the Foundation has developed bespoke Brain Injury Training for professionals & the Brain Injury Screening Index©, a validated resource for simple & effective identification of possible brain injury.
