Charities Act Workshop
Prepare for changes to the rules on trustees and senior managers with criminal records
14th March, Manchester | 16th March, London | 16th April, Birmingham | 17th April, Plymouth | £15 members /£30 non-members
From 1st August 2018, changes to the ‘automatic disqualification’ rules mean that there will be more restrictions on who can run a charity, particularly affecting trustees and certain senior managers, such as CEOs and Chief Finance Officers.
This half day workshop will provide you with the information your organisation needs to prepare for these changes.
For charities working in criminal justice, people with lived experience of the system are key to the difference we can make in the lives of people with convictions and their families – improving the quality and impact of the services on offer, and enabling service users to build a new identity which supports their journey to desistance from crime. For the wider voluntary sector a diverse range of trustees and staff is vital to ensure a broad range of perspectives, skills and knowledge.
Organisations need to act now to update their recruitment processes to reflect the new rules and understand how they can support anyone involved in the organisation, who will be affected, to apply for a waiver in advance of the changes.
This workshop will be delivered by Unlock and is based on Unlock’s guide to the new rules Leading Charities with Conviction and simple easy to use tools which Clinks has supported them to develop.
