Clinks training: working and volunteering in prison

Are you new to working in prison? Do you want to work in prison but not sure where to begin? This one day course aims to raise awareness of the prison environment and enable voluntary sector staff and volunteers to have meaningful and professional engagement with prisons. The day combines theory, individual reflection and practical guidance as well as the opportunity to share experiences with others.
The training will cover:
- An overview of the criminal justice system; including different elements of the prison and probation services
- An understanding of the prison environment and the demographics of those in custody; including an individual’s journey through the system
- An introduction into the current thinking in desistance theory and routes to rehabilitation
- A guide to safe and responsible working within a custodial setting.
Each training day has a maximum of 15 places so book now to avoid disappointment.
