State of the Sector survey - Deadline fast approaching!
"With current funding only covering the bare essentials there is little room to expand on what we do."
Thank you to the almost 100 of you that have responded to our State of the Sector survey, giving us vital information on the voluntary sector’s role in the rehabilitation and resettlement of people in the Criminal Justice System. If you're a voluntary organisation working with offenders or their families, make sure you make your voice heard by policy makers - complete the survey by Friday 24th July, here
What have we found so far?
We have posted a blog giving an update on the survey which you can read here. The emerging trends from the responses so far show that organisations...
“Whilst writing bids, searching for funding and trying to assure employees the future is bright, time is taken away from what we do, there are only so many hours in a day…with current funding only covering the bare essentials there is little room to expand on what we do.”
- ...are working with higher numbers of service users, and the needs of those service users are increasing - both in terms of variety and severity.
"Mental health and social care thresholds have gone up, so there are more people in homelessness services who have mental health issues, learning disabilities, and other care needs."
- ...continue to rely on the support of volunteers, and on the whole, volunteer recruitment is increasing.
"Our volunteers are trained to . . . signpost and support access to local services for help with specific services along the seven pathways to resettlement."
How do these experiences compare with your own? Tell your story and help to strengthen the sectors’ collective voice. Your anonymised responses will make up a report which will be sent to key decision makers and influencers. Please make sure you complete the survey before the deadline - Friday 24th July.
