Update on Clinks work in the South West
We have held a workshop on changes to the Charities Act, which mean that there will be more restrictions from 1st August 2018 on who can run a charity, particularly affecting trustees and certain senior managers, such as CEOs and Chief Finance Officers. For more information read Unlock’s guidance, Leading Charities with Conviction.
We are developing work on testing out social prescribing in prisons. Social prescribing is a way of enabling GPs, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services. While growing in popularity in the community, it has not yet been established in custody, and we are working with partners in Devon to explore how to do this.
Isabel Livingstone, Clinks Development Officer for the South West, advocated on behalf of the voluntary sector at the newly formed Devon and Cornwall Reducing Offending Board, and met with Devon and Cornwall Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Crown Prosecution Service.
As part of the Making Every Adult Matter coalition, Clinks is supporting four areas in the South West to improve services for people facing multiple disadvantage. This has involved reviewing who is involved in partnerships, setting goals for the coming year, sharing learning on improving commissioning and addressing workforce development.
Clinks offered visits and support to several Clinks members covering issues including funding opportunities and partnership working. If you’re a Clinks member and would like support, please do get in touch. Contact Isabel Livingstone: Isabel.livingstone@clinks.org
