What can we learn about what works to help families and prisoners maintain and even improve family ties? What works to help those prisoners who do not have any family connections?
Lord Farmer and Clinks are carrying out an independent review to investigate how supporting men in prison in England and Wales to engage with their families can reduce reoffending and assist in addressing intergenerational crime. This review will consider evidence of what works well inside prisons and where families and prisoners interact. It will report to the Ministry of Justice in January 2017. We want to learn from your experience and expertise and to be made aware of any relevant research or international good practice that can help us to develop policy recommendations.
Our call for evidence is now open
We are keen to hear from:
- Organisations and professionals working with men in prison and/or their families
- Academics with expertise in the area of families and the Criminal Justice System.
Please send your written evidence, centred on our four areas of focus, to Farmerreview@clinks.org
We are also actively seeking the views of:
- Men who are currently, or have previously been, in prison
- Family members of men or women who are, or have previously been, in prison.
We're asking prisoners to complete the Family services questionnaire for prisoners, and prisoners' families to complete the Family services questionnaire for prisoners' families. The form can be filled out directly on the PDF, and emailed back to us at Farmerreview@clinks.org. You can also print the form and return it to our freepost address, or request printed questionnaires to be sent to your organisation for prisoners and families to complete.
Please send us your evidence by 17th October 2016.
