Clinks is delighted to announce that Roma Hooper will be our new Chair, taking over in the role after our AGM on the 7th November.
Roma says, “Criminal justice is at a crossroads at the moment with the state of our prisons and probation service. Now is the time for Clinks to take full advantage of the knowledge and evidence gained from its wide membership to input on policy and create the best possible space for the voluntary sector to be part of a new and refreshed criminal justice system. I firmly believe that Clinks, with its members, has the ability to continue to thrive and use its influence to strengthen the power of the voluntary sector so it can continue to reduce crime and improve rehabilitation for those facing sentences in prison and in the community."
We would like to thank our outgoing Chair Dame Anne Owers for her sterling work over the last seven years providing leadership in the sector, through so much change, including through the period of the total reorganisation of probation services. We are indebted to her for her dedicated leadership of the Clinks board.
We look forward to working with Roma, who has a wealth of experience of the voluntary sector in the criminal justice system. We look forward to her leadership and support of Clinks as we collectively launch the new strategy for Clinks to 2022 and beyond.
Roma has written a blog looking at her experience in the sector, her perspective on Clinks’ work, and her thoughts on the challenges and opportunities facing our members.
