CLINKS NEWS: shape the way we work
Take part in the National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance's (NCJAA) annual survey to shape the way we work in the future, and for your chance to win £50 high street vouchers. It is vital we hear from as many NCJAA members as possible so we can provide the best network possible for artists, arts organisations and criminal justice practitioners delivering innovative work across the country. Tell us about the important work you do, and how we can best support you. The deadline for responses is 15th March. Take part here
CLINKS NEWS: the strategy for arts in England
The National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance (NCJAA) has responded to Arts Council England's consultation on its next 10 year strategy. The NCJAA welcomes and supports many of the proposed outcomes, especially those which demonstrate a shift in emphasis towards equality and inclusion. The response makes a number of recommendations to help Arts Council England achieve its ambitious outcomes by 2030. In particular, we recommend the strategy makes explicit recognition of the arts and criminal justice sector, strengthening the case for public investment and enhancing creativity of every kind from people from any background. Find out more here
CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: pro bono communications support
Transform Justice is offering pro bono coaching and support from a strategic communications expert to six voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system. The one-to-one support will help organisations communicate more clearly and effectively to all audiences, both online and in print, and help shift the public and media conversation about criminal justice. It will draw on findings from research conducted by the Frameworks Institute in 2016 on behalf of Transform Justice, the Criminal Justice Alliance, Clinks and the Standing Committee for Youth Justice. The application deadline is 15th March. Find out more here
CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: domestic and sexual abuse against women
AVA (Against Violence and Abuse) and Agenda have published Hand in Hand, a report based on the findings of a national commission focusing on domestic and sexual abuse against women facing multiple disadvantage. It shows women are falling through the gaps in services. Service cuts and ever-increasing thresholds for accessing support are preventing women from getting the help they need. It recommends more awareness-raising campaigns about abuse; more involvement of experts by experience; multi-agency support; staff training to understand abuse; and more empathy from service providers. Find out more here
CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: custody intervention
Clinks member Bounceback is partnering with the Metropolitan Police Service's custody intervention programme, Divert. The initiative responds specifically to 18-24 year olds in police custody and aims to reduce re-offending by diverting people into education, skills training, development and employment opportunities and away from crime. Find out more in Bounceback's latest ebulletin
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: rehabilitation activity requirements
Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service has published new guidance on Rehabilitation Activity Requirements (RARs) to supplement the existing the existing probation instruction PI 58/2014 and the RAR guidance published in July 2017. Read the new guidance here
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: visiting family in prison
Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service wants to hear from people who seldom, or never, visit friends of family members in prison. Their views can inform future changes in practices and policy. If you'd like to take part in this research, email visitorsvoices@hmps.gsi.gov.uk or call 07989 677146.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: inspection of probation
HM Inspectorate of Probation will be conducting an inspection of probation services in Warwickshire and West Mercia Community Rehabilitation Company during the weeks commencing 25th March, 1st April and 8th April 2019. If you have any queries about this, please contact crcinspections@hmiprobation.gov.uk

The Leaders with Lived Experience programme is suitable for voluntary organisations set up or run by leaders with lived experience - people who use their first-hand experience of a social issue to create positive change for, and with, communities and people they share those experiences with.
