CLINKS NEWS: hearing your resilient voices
We've carried out a series of short interviews with our staff and members where they speak about what 'resilience' means for voluntary organisations and staff working in the criminal justice system. They told us about the resilience of the voluntary sector, what it needs to be more resilient, and how Clinks supports them to be more resilient. Their fascinating insights highlight the current challenges for organisations and their staff, and how they are bouncing back in the face of adversity. Listen to the interviews on our 2016-2017 annual review webpage here

CLINKS EVENT: Charities Act roundtable
Clinks, in partnership with the Charity Commission, is holding a roundtable consultation on the Charities Act – disqualification and waivers for people with convictions working in charities [20th November, London, free]. In the summer of 2018 the Charities Act will come into force, meaning that people with certain convictions are disqualified from working as senior managers, finance directors, or volunteer as trustees in charities across England and Wales, unless they receive a waiver. The event will be an opportunity to give your feedback which will directly impact on the Charity Commission guidance around the Act. Find out more and book here

Do you have some great photos of your organisation, its work, staff and its service users? Enter our photography competition and you could win tickets to a Clinks event of your choice and one day’s free consultation from an expert who can help support and develop your organisation. We want to see the good work your organisation is doing with people in the criminal justice system. Send us your photos on the theme of 'resilience' for chance to win these prizes before 24th November. Find out more here

CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: inspecting probation and youth offending services
HM Inspectorate of Probation has launched two consultations on standards and ratings for inspecting probation and youth offending services. Dame Glenys Stacey, HM Chief Inspector of Probation, says, "In these consultations we are asking your views on the way we intend to structure standards, and on the draft standards themselves ... We have also been considering how best to rate probation and youth offending services. We are suggesting a composite rating for each inspection and also sub-ratings, so that those inspected can see where they have done well and where they can improve, in order to improve the quality of the service they are delivering. We would now like to hear your views". The closing date for submissions is 8th December. Find out more here
FUNDING: community businesses
Not-for-profit community organisations that have been constituted for five years or less can apply for the final round of the Community Business Bright Ideas fund. The funding is to help community groups set up their own business and carry out the necessary consultations with local people and feasibility studies to develop a community business idea the community wants and needs. Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available for the ideas stage, and grants of between £1,000 and £15,000 are available for the pre-venture stage.
