CLINKS BRIEFING: how PCCs can work with the voluntary sector
'Police and Crime Commissioners Generation 2.0: How you can work with the voluntary sector to reduce crime' is a Clinks briefing for Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and PCC candidates outlining some key areas and activities which we believe PCC candidates should prioritise. These include taking the lead in engaging the voluntary sector, recognising the specific needs of women, Black, Asian minority ethnic people and young adults, and listening to those with lived experience. The briefing provides information about how PCCs can work with the voluntary sector to address these and gives examples of good practice by current PCCs. Download the briefing here
CLINKS EVENT: how to change public opinion on justice issues
Clinks, in partnership with Transform Justice, are running half-day workshops [22nd June, York | 29th June, London | 7th July, Bristol | 13th July, Wales | free for members, £50 for non-members] on how to use powerful new approaches to winning arguments on the justice system. The workshops are based on robust research which reveals that some well-used sector messages are counter-productive, while others are very effective. You will learn how to make your communications more powerful for the public, the media and policy makers. Find out more and book here
CLINKS BLOG: the impact of imprisonment on family ties
Clinks' latest blog from Partrice Lawrence, Development Officer: Families, is part of our 'Family Snapshots' series of articles based on interviews with prisoners or their partners and families about the impact of imprisonment on family ties. 'The partner of a prisoner on an inderterminate sentence' follows Wendi and her partner M's story: 'Although Wendi is not alone in being the partner of a prisoner with a longer sentence, her situation differs from many in that M is on an IPP sentence – Imprisonment for Public Protection. It is a sentence with no definite end and relies on the prisoner completing a number of different courses and the Parole Board being convinced that the prisoner is no longer a risk to the public.' CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: restorative justice for women offenders
'Working with women who offend: A guide for restorative justice practitioners' is a Restorative Justice Council (RJC) guide for practitioners who are managing restorative justice cases that involve a female perpetrator in order to foster effective and ethical working approaches. The guide is based on the findings of a research project exploring female offenders’ access to, and experiences of, restorative justice. A guest post from RJC on Russell Webster's blog covers the key themes and implications for future practice. Read the post here
