CLINKS TRAINING: writing winning bids
'Writing winning bids' is a Clinks and Candour Collaborations workshop [2nd July, Birmingham, from £50] to support voluntary sector organisations to effectively identify contract and sub-contract opportunities, write strong narrative responses, and engage Tier 1 providers to secure positions within supply chains. The workshop will help you to understand how procurement works, and give guidance on how to submit high quality, high scoring expressions of interest, pre-qualification questionnaires and invitations to tender. CLINKS CASE STUDY: supporting women with personality disorders
Our latest case study looks at Community Links’ Changes project and the vital support they provide to women with personality disorder in Yorkshire. People with this disorder can find learning from past experiences, and changing their behaviour to cope with life more effectively, more difficult than other people. This case study looks at the support provided, what it's like to work with this client group, how the project is funded, and a client's individual journey through the service. Clinks’ Ben Watson has written a blog about his visit to see the Changes project in action. Read his blog and download the case study here
CLINKS REPORT: enhancing services for people with multiple needs
As part of the MEAM coalition, we have published 'Solutions from the Frontline', a report based on the ideas and experiences of people with multiple needs. It sets out how the new Government, as well as local policy makers and commissioners, can act to reduce stigma, improve services, and support people to achieve their ambitions. Download it here
CLINKS NEWS: tracking TR survey now closed
Over 150 of you requested to join our special interest group to track the impact of Transforming Rehabilitation. At a time of great change it is more important than ever to have a clear picture of how the voluntary sector can, and does, make a real difference to the lives of people affected by the Criminal Justice System. The involvement of so many voluntary sector organisations will ensure the group has a strong voice; enabling Clinks to promote good practice and advocate for change. Find out more on our dedicated webpage

CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: artists' network starting in Wales
Writers in Prison Network are looking for artists who are working in the Wales-based Criminal Justice System to join a network. They say: "We're getting in touch about a new group we’ve started (along with Bridget Keehan from Papertrail, ex-writer in residence at HMP Cardiff) which is supported by ArtWorks Cymru. Our first meeting would be about making connections and finding out a bit more about what kinds of creative projects have happened in the past, as well as what is currently happening, or is planned, so that we can get a sense of the level of activity going on. We can then decide collectively how we might take things forward." To find out more and get involved, email bridget.keehan@papertrail.org.uk
CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: new service for prisoners' families
EDP Drug & Alcohol Services (EDP) and HMPYOI Portland have launched a new partnership service for friends and families visiting prisoners at Portland prison. The visitors’ centre in Portland now has a dedicated office and worker that families and children can use to get advice, have a chat, find out what support is available for them in their home area or to simply get information about the prison process and how the system works. Charlotte Richards, the family worker at Portland said: "The prison has provided an office, toys and a lot of support to help EDP get this service off the ground. We’re able to offer help to both the prisoners inside and their families here in the visitors’ centre which is really useful." Find out more here
CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: community bike project launched in West Yorkshire
The Bikery, a new Margaret Carey Foundation Community Bike Hub, opened last month in Shipley, West Yorkshire. Unwanted bikes are collected by partner charities, refurbished in one of their 10 prison workshops, then brought to The Bikery to be sold for bargain prices. CLINKS MEMBER'S REQUEST: good practice using the arts with people experiencing homelessness
Lemos&Crane are looking to identify examples of good practice in using the arts to promote the well-being of people experiencing homelessness. This is part of a wider body of work on engagement with the arts for vulnerable or excluded people, looking at: the extent to which these opportunities are already present, and the impact that they have for those who participate. If you are involved in or aware of an organisation, project or activity that uses the arts to improve the well-being of people experiencing homelessness, get involved here

NoOffence!'s next event, 'Being a veteran in the Criminal Justice System' [14th July, Liverpool, from £50], will explore the recent Ministry of Justice statement that "every prisoner coming into custody will be asked if they have been a member of the armed forces". The day will ask what difference this will actually make to the experience of veterans both within the Criminal Justice System and upon leaving the system. Delegates will also discuss how important the identity of a veteran is; does the shift from military to civilian life and the associated shift in identity play a part in the numbers of veterans within the Criminal Justice System; how do professionals within the system navigate this identity, how do they perceive veterans within criminal justice and how does this perception impact on practice?
