CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: innovative approaches to reducing gang violence
Belong London has developed an innovative project that aims to decrease re-offending amongst males aged under 30 years who have been convicted of a violent, group related offence. The three-stranded program will provide prison based, one to one support to offenders, as well as art therapy and restorative justice interventions. It will assist inmates to address the root causes of their previous offending and to avoid committing offences in the future. There are opportunities available for committed, compassionate people, preferably with some experience of working with people from disadvantaged backgrounds, to volunteer as part of this cutting edge program. The program will be independently evaluated in order to promote learning across the sector on good practice related to the complex problem of gang violence. For more information or to volunteer, email enquries@belonglondon.com

PUBLICATION: five years on since the Bradley Report
Centre for Mental Health has published the final report of an independent commission chaired by Lord Bradley to review progress since 2009 and identify priorities for further development. 'The Bradley Report five years on' looks at what needs to be done to put Lord Bradley’s vision into practice across the country. CONSULTATION: shape the future of youth justice practice
As part of their two-yearly Effective Practice Cycle, the Youth Justice Board (YJB) would like those working in and around the youth justice system to tell them what they see as the priority effective practice needs and gaps. This is an opportunity to help set the agenda and the YJB’s priority areas for effective practice over the next two years. They are running a short survey to identify which knowledge gaps you would most like the YJB to provide effective practice information on. The priorities from the survey will be considered, along with other YJB obligations, to produce a final list of priorities to be addressed in the coming year. The survey closes on 11th July, take part here

OPPORTUNITY: evaluate a new multiple needs service
Shelter are launching a new project in July called 'Inspiring Change Manchester', which aims to help people with multiple and complex needs to improve their lives and sustain these improvements by transforming Manchester’s systems and services. Shelter are seeking to commission local evaluation partners to help them understand the success of the project. In particular, the focus of the evaluation will be on understanding what is working, for whom and under what circumstances. This will help the project to be delivered more effectively over time in terms of its impact both on individual service users and on local systems change. The evaluation will comprise four research Lots covering value for money, impact on service users, extent of systems change and other ad hoc activities. The deadline for responding is Friday 27th June at 5pm, and documentation is available from sarah_colston@shelter.org.uk
