CLINKS OFFER: cheaper insurance
Clinks is working with Scrutton Bland Insurance Group to offer our members a 5% discount on their specialised insurance service. Insurance is an essential purchase for voluntary sector organisations but you don't want to spend any more on it than you have to. They're brokers who understand that the charity insurance market can be difficult to navigate for organisations who work with people involved in the Criminal Justice System. They are also offering a free advice helpline on insurance risk management, a full review of your existing insurance requirement, and a full market exercise to provide alternative insurers and premiums. CLINKS BLOG: regional policy forums
In this blog Clinks' Development Officer Isabel Livingstone looks at the first Clinks regional policy forums, which aim to give organisations based outside London the opportunity to hear the latest national developments in criminal justice, and also use their experience to inform Clinks’ national policy work. Over November and December 2016 Clinks held policy forums in Durham, Liverpool and Exeter. All had a focus on prisons, with senior prison staff speaking alongside voluntary sector organisations. CLINKS BLOG: substance misuse services in prisons
Clinks' Development Officer Hazel Alcraft has written a blog looking at the key themes from a consultation event on substance misuse services in prison, which was held on the 13th January in partnership with NHS England. NHS England asked Clinks to help them talk to the voluntary sector and people with lived experience to find out what works well with current services, and what needs to be different. If you would like to help shape the service specification, there’s still time to feed in your thoughts via email. Read the blog here
CLINKS EVENT: funding for supported housing
On 21st November the Government announced a consultation on future funding models for supported housing. As people in contact with the Criminal Justice system are often beneficiaries of supported housing, Clinks, in partnership with Homeless Link is hosting this event [27th January, London, free] to inform Clinks members about the Government’s proposals and allow them to inform Clinks’ response. Revolving Doors launched its Rebalancing Act publication on the 11th January. CLINKS MEMBER'S NEWS: in-cell activity packs
RECOOP has developed an in-cell activity pack called 'food for thought' designed for prisoners who may be confined to cell for a long period of time. A festive issue of 'food for thought' was sent to HMP members in December, and received positive feedback. If you would like further information please email info@recoop.org.uk
