Clinks regularly hosts a variety of events and training for voluntary sector organisations that work with offenders and their families. Below are some of our upcoming events in October and November - please note places are limited so do book early to avoid disappointment.
Creating a culture of service user involvement
21st October, London, £25, Clinks members only
Are you new to service user involvement work? Would you like to change how you involve your service users, but aren’t sure where to start? If so, this meeting of our service user involvement managers’ network is for you! You’ll hear from organisations who have already successfully introduced service user involvement, and there will be plenty of practical advice and networking opportunities.
Alternative methods to prison resettlement
27th October, Birmingham, from £25
This thought-provoking afternoon seminar will offer the chance to learn about effective practice in the USA and Norway and broaden thinking in regard to developing a rehabilitative culture in UK prisons. Andy Laidlaw, Head of Reducing Re-offending at HMP Risley, and Sara Lee, Artistic Director at the Irene Taylor Trust, will share findings from their 2015 Winston Churchill Travel Fellowships on the topics of ‘what works in the USA and how this can help inform the future of rehabilitation in the UK’ and ‘the role of music in resettlement and crime prevention’.
Workshop on winning contracts and social investments
1st November, London, £25, Clinks members only
10th November, York, £25, Clinks members only
This practical workshop, hosted by Clinks and Social Finance, will explain how you can access Big Lottery grants from the Big Potential scheme. The scheme helps organisations explore how social investment could increase their impact. The workshop will explain how these grants can be obtained and how social investment compares to other types of funding available. If you’re interested in new funding streams or in scaling up your work then book your place now.
Listening event: arts in criminal justice settings
10th November, Birmingham, free
The National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance (NCJAA) is holding a listening event to bring together people working in arts and criminal justice settings across the West Midlands to talk about policy and challenges as well as good practice. This will be a great opportunity to raise concerns, share experiences and meet new colleagues. You will also be able to help shape the support that the NCJAA offers to the sector.
