About the peer learning event:
The Arts Alliance is running a series of peer learning events aimed at encouraging Arts Alliance members to learn from one another about their practice. This event is a unique opportunity to learn from leading dance company Dance United and their award-winning Academy Programme. Dance United use intensive contemporary dance training to help transform the lives of young people who are marginalised, affected by poverty, social inequality, crime or lack of opportunity. The Academies’ intensive programmes are based on the discipline of professional dance training and help hundreds of young people start from scratch and excel, learning a host of transferable skills on the way. They discover the joy of learning and achieve against the odds. This event aims to enable delegates working in the field to discover more about this effective approach to inform their own practice and approach to working with offenders through the arts.
Who is it for?
This event is aimed at Arts Alliance members who are dance, theatre and art practitioners working with (or would like to work with) offenders in prison and/or in the community.
What will you get out of attending?
- An opportunity to learn more about Dance United and their approach
- An opportunity to explore and improve understanding of issues facing young people in the criminal justice system
- An opportunity to participate in a practice based dance workshop first hand
- An opportunity to learn about their effective outcomes measurement approach
- An opportunity for discussion, networking and peer learning from leading practitioners in the field
