Arts Alliance Newsflash | Member survey, Steering Group elections & upcoming events
Happy New Year from the Arts Alliance!
We hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing festive period and are looking forward to the year ahead. The Arts Alliance had a great end to 2013 with the launch of our most recent research report; Re-Imagining Futures: exploring arts interventions and the process of desistance. We really want you, the membership, to get involved with the work of the Arts Alliance, so make 2014 the year you share your thoughts and ideas on art practice in the Criminal Justice System with us. Below are a few ways you can get started...
Arts Alliance member survey
We want to know what you think about the Arts Alliance. If you have a spare 5 minutes, we would appreciate it if you took the time to fill in our Member Survey, which will help us determine what the Arts Alliance is doing well and what we should be doing better to improve our membership offer. Click here to take the survey.
Steering Group elections
We are looking to elect up to four new members to our Steering Group for the year 2014-15. This is a fantastic opportunity to become more involved in our work and arts and criminal justice nationally. The Steering Group represent the membership and set priorities for the Arts Alliance. The Steering Group meet a minimum of five times a year and members are expected to join one additional sub group which involves work around a specific theme. If you would like to know more about the role, please visit our website. If you are a member of the Arts Alliance and interested in applying to stand for election, please submit a statement of interest of no more than 200 words to kate.davey@clinks.org, outlining your skills, interests and why you would be suitable for the role. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2014 at 5pm.
Statements will be circulated around the membership and members can vote from 4 February at 9am by completing a ballot form and emailing it to kate.davey@clinks.org. Voting can also happen at the Annual Meeting on 13 February. Please check the website for updated information.

Arts Alliance future planning day and Annual Meeting
13 February 2014, 11am - 6pm | London | Free
The Arts Alliance Steering Group would like to invite the wider membership to feed into Inspiring Futures - the Arts Alliance proposal for developing a large scale research and arts programme of activity from March 2014. The aim of Inspiring Futures is to bring about a step change in both the credibility and reach of arts projects within the Criminal Justice System. For this to be successful the Arts Alliance wants to consult with relevant stakeholders to help shape the project. Therefore a planning day will be held ahead of our annual meeting for experts and members to contribute to the vision, design and structure of the proposed programme of activity. Click here for more information on how to secure a place.

Write to be Heard practice sharing events - London and Manchester
Thursday 6 March, 10am - 4pm | London | Free
Wednesday 12 March, 10am - 6pm | Manchester | Free
Write to be Heard, an arts and education project, worked with Geese Theatre Company, Prison Radio Association and creative writers to deliver 28 creative writing workshops in prisons across the UK. We are now hosting two practice sharing events to take forward the learning points of the project and explore how arts organisations can work with prisons and education providers to improve offenders' literacy and life skills. The sessions will be of interest to education providers and those responsible for curriculum development, prison staff and others that work directly with prisoners. There will be two practice sharing days; one in London and one in Manchester.
