Rebecca co-founded Odd Arts in 2004 whilst still completing her Drama BA at Manchester University. Rebecca went on to participate in an inspirational placement in Brazil with the theatre practitioner and political activist Augusto Boal, whose work still influences Odd Arts today. Odd Arts uses theatre to reduce inequalities and increase wellbeing and cohesion, working in over 150 schools and 20 prisons each year, embedded in communities in Hulme and Moss Side. Rebecca passionately advocates for theatre as a tool for social justice. Rebecca has presented at EU Parliament and participated in a US Embassy Exchange on Countering Violent Extremism. She sits on the National Arts Alliance for Criminal Justice Advisory Group; Europe’s Radicalisation Awareness Network Practitioners Expert Pool; and is Vice Chair of the Lawrence Batley Theatre. Rebecca was awarded an MBE for services to Education & Communities in Manchester.
Rebecca is also a mother of four, a foster carer, and a grass-roots women's football enthusiast!
