He is a fierce advocate for lived experience leadership, youth empowerment and increased cultural competency within the sector, championing the importance of relational support and directly related lived experience in building trust, strengthening engagement and improving outcomes.
Dion has designed and delivered interventions across youth and adult custodial estates and community settings, with a focus on addressing the experiences of marginalised communities and groups that are disproportionately represented within the criminal justice system while often remaining under-represented within support services.
His current focus is developing innovative approaches that improve support and outcomes for young people transitioning from youth custody into the adult estate and adult community orders.
His work focuses on strengthening social capital, increasing meaningful engagement, supporting positive identity development and challenging stigma by creating environments where marginalised young people can make, sustain and be recognised for positive choices.
