Prisoners’ Education Trust is recruiting new Trustees to join our Board at a pivotal time in our development.
PET is an independent charity that offers distance learning courses and related advice and guidance to people in prison across England and Wales.
We offer 130 different courses – including GCSEs and A-levels, Open University Access modules and a wide range of professional courses – and enable 1,500 people each year to access distance learning, giving them the skills to build brighter futures. PET also uses policy and advocacy work to improve prison education and show policymakers and the public the impact that education can have for people in prison.
Our current five-year strategy concludes in 2026 so the next 18 months will be an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved, consider our future priorities, and develop a new strategy that ensures that PET continues to develop and thrive through to 2030 and beyond.
At this crucial time for the organisation, we are looking for new trustees who share both our values and our ambitions. Candidates will bring strategic vision, energy and fresh thinking to the Board, as well as a commitment to our vision and values. They will also be as committed as we are to equality, equity, diversity and inclusion and to putting lived experience at the heart of all our work.
If you care about prison education, if you want to help steer PET through the next phase of our development, and if you can offer us the dedication and commitment that we’re looking for, then we hope you will consider applying to join us.
