Family Support Worker - Early Days in Custody
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Early Days in Custody pilot project and continue to develop the family support provision we offer to men arriving into custody at HMP Durham.
This vital service supports men as they arrive in custody with issues around family contact and family relationships. The Early Days in Custody Family Support Worker role focuses on offering this support to men in the first two weeks of custody, helping them to make contact with loved ones as soon as possible, get their first visit booked and offer information and emotional support to reduce the distress and confusion for the men and their families or significant others.
We are looking for someone with a background in supporting families in crisis, who is able to work in a challenging and fast paced environment, with a good understanding of safeguarding issues and how to respond to concerns.
Fixed term until March 2023 with the possibility of extension
