Family Support Worker - (24.5 hours per week) - Prisoner Family Services based at HMP Norwich
We have opportunities to join our experienced and dedicated Family Services Team working within the visitors’ centre at HMP Norwich providing a personal welcome for first-time and returning visitors to help them access the services available to them.
HMP Norwich, part of the main HMP Estate. offers a varied and exciting opportunity to work in a busy yet rewarding environment where no two days are the same. You will be required to obtain and retain enhanced security vetting for this role.
We are seeking a Family Support Worker to join the team in providing effective and efficient running of the Visitors Centre, welcoming visitors and providing them with information and support as they come to visit someone at the prison. The successful candidate will be expected to assist on Family Days, Children’s Visits and other services to ensure prisoners and their families have a valuable visiting experience, improving the quality of visits for children and families helping to maintain positive, healthy and resilient family relationships.
In particular, we are looking for someone to provide administrative support across the service to assist in the smooth running of all of our additional services e.g. StoryBook Dad, Children’s Visits, Family Days etc. This could involve and may not be limited to taking minutes of meetings, ordering items on amazon, file opening, providing monthly data and information.
Also at HMP Norwich, we are proud to have an excellent team of volunteers who help staff with various tasks across the service. Within this role, we are also looking for someone who will support the Team Leader on volunteer recruitment, training and co-ordination.
Ideally you will have experience of dealing with people in a customer service-based role and be able to demonstrate excellent administrative, communication and problem-solving skills sometimes under challenging circumstances whilst embracing a non-judgemental and empathetic work ethic.
Salary: £15,288 per annum (based on 24.5 hours per week average off the £12.00 per hour (Real Living Wage))
Based: HMP Norwich Visitors’ Centre
Working Hours and Patterns:
- The work pattern covers 24.5 hours per week as follows:
- Tuesdays 8.30am to 4.30pm (7.5 hours), Wednesdays 10am to 4.30pm (6 hours), Thursdays 8.30am to 4.30pm (7.5 hours) and two weekend days every four weeks working 8.30am to 4pm (7 hours)
- Although a degree of flexibility will be required at times to meet operational demand.
